TWO Filipino fishermen who went missing in the West Philippines Sea (WPS) was rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) yesterday.
They were fishing in the waters off Bulig Shoal / First Thomas Shoal when they went missing after their motorbanca ran out of fuel.
This caused them to drift away from their mother boat, the FB LANTIS ANDREI, due to strong winds and current.
The Naval Forces West reported the incident to the Coast Guard District Palawan for search and rescue (SAR) augmentation on Thursday, 26 October 2023.
The PCG immediately deployed the BRP Sindangan (MRRV-4407) that proceeded to the area and were able to successfully locate the two missing Filipino fishermen, who were provided medical assistance and meals by the PCG.
They were then turned over to their mother boat in good physical condition.
