Two alleged Daulah Islamiyah – Maute Group members slain in Lanao del Sur clash

ANOTHER armed encounter was reported between government forces and members of the Daulah Islamiyah – Maute Group in Barangay Lumbac, Balabagan, Lanao del Sur yesterday.

According to Western Mindanao Command Chief, Lt./Gen. Alfredo Rosario Jr., his men were conducting focused military operations when they chanced upon the group of Polo Alim, a member of Daulah Islamiyah – Maute Group.

After the firefight, soldiers who assisted the Balabagan Municipal Police recovered the dead body of one of the terror group members slain in the encounter, including an M-16 rifle, M-203 grenade launcher, cellphone, grenade and some drug paraphernalia.

From the side of Joint Task Force Central Commander and 6th Infantry Division chief of the Philippine Army, MGen. Juvymax Uy, he said other terrorists were slain but their bodies were brought by their comrades who escaped.

Four soldiers were wounded in the encounter and were immediately brought to the Dr. Serapio Montaner Medical Hospital for medical aid, and were later transferred to the Camp Siongco Station Hospital, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao for recovery.
