TRO issued by the Supreme Court vs Comelec’s “Oplan Baklas”

THE Supreme Court today issued a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) against the Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) controversial “Oplan Baklas.”

In a statement, “the Supreme Court, during its en banc deliberations today, March 8, 2022 issued a temporary restraining order against the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and Comelec Director and Spokesperson James Arthur Jimenez in connection with the poll body’s Oplan Baklas.”

In a petition filed by St. Anthony College of Roxas City, it sought to prohibit the Comelec from implementing Sections 21, 24 and 26 of Comelec Resolution No. 10730, an order that will “dismantle, remove, destroy, deface, and/or confiscate all election materials that are privately owned and privately funded solely by volunteers and private citizens and posted and/or installed within their private properties.”
