THE total number of COVID-19 cases in the country is already at 1,235,467 after the Department of Health (DOH) recorded 5,177 new COVID-19 infections today, June 1, 2021.
On the other hand, active COVID-19 cases were at 53,203, or about 4.3 percent, of the overall case count. They are currently being treated in hospitals and other quarantine facilities.
In terms of recoveries, the DOH today recorded 6,230 individuals who recovered from the disease, bringing the total number of COVID-19 recovered patients to 1,161,252 today.
Meanwhile, there were only 46 COVID-19 deaths recorded today, which is about half the number of deaths registered during the past few days.
Overall, there are now 21,012 COVID-19 fatalities in the country.
According to the DOH, around 10 laboratories failed to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS) even though all licensed laboratories were operational last May 31, 2021.
Based on data in the last 14 days, the 10 non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 4.3 percent of samples tested and 6.6 percent of positive individuals.
