THE Police Regional Office 5 (PRO5) was ordered to thoroughly investigate the two explosions that occurred inside the Legazpi City campus of Bicol University on Sunday night.
Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar ordered on Tuesday, October 5, the Regional Director of PRO5, PBGen. Jonnel Estomo, to focus on the investigation and ensure that the perpetrators are caught and held responsible, considering that the incident happened in an area right across the Regional Headquarters of the PNP.
Reports reaching the office of PGen Eleazar stated that the explosions came one after the other at 6:30p.m. The police’s Explosives and Ordnance Group immediately responded to the incident.
There was no reported casualty in the incident.
“I also directed the regional police leadership to coordinate with University officials to discuss security measures in order to prevent the repeat of this incident,” said PGen Eleazar.
“Even if there are no activities by students and faculty inside the campus because of the pandemic, the police should still be alert against attacks of this kind,” he added.
The Chief PNP also appealed to those who have information about the explosions to come forward and help authorities and investigators shed light on the incident.
