Fisherman seeks top post in Obando

A 55-YEAR OLD fisherman and a public servant for thirty years as village and municipal councilor is now eyeing the mayoralty post in Obando, Bulacan in the 2022 elections.

Incumbent municipal councilor Ding Valeda with his complete slate on Tuesday officially filed their certificates of candidacy (COCs) under Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando’s political party National Unity Party (NUP).

Valeda, a native of Barangay Tawiran, started his political career as Kabataan Barangay councilor in 1986 and elected again as councilor of then Sangguniang Kabataan in 1989 and in 1994 up to 2001 was elected as Barangay Councilman.

In 2002, he became the village chief after the incumbent village chief had died.

Valeda finished his three terms as village chief and then president of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) before he was elected number one municipal councilor in 2016 until now.

Councilor Valeda is a fishpond operator for 21 years, a fishpond operator and legislator. Once elected as chief executive, he vowed to continue his programs where some of his priority projects include the sectors of education and fisheries industry.

His running mate as vice mayor is Arvin Dela Cruz, while his candidates for councilors are Rowel Rillera, Aries Joseph Manaysay, Mikko Dela Paz, Oyen Bautista, Dra. Vangie Bautista, Louie Reyes, gerald Gomez and Edmund Papa.

He will face Espie Santos, wife of Mayor Edwin Santos, who will end his third term as local chief executive.
