THE Octa Research Team noted a slight increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in some provinces in the country.
Among the regions that recorded a slight spike include Calabarzon or Region 4-A, some parts of Central Luzon like Tarlac, and also in Western Visayas.
Despite the slight increase in numbers, Dr. Guido David of OCTA Research said the increase is still not consistent so there’s no cause for alarm yet.
Among the reasons cited for the increase is complacency by the public, the lowering of immunity due to the waning effectivity of the vaccine, and the entry into the country of Omicron subvariants such as the BA.4 and BA.5 from South Africa and BA.2.12.1 that came from the United States.
Because of this, David said Dahil dito, caution should still be exercised, including compliance with health protocols.
It would also be best to continue vaccination and the administration of booster shots, especially those who are not yet vaccinated.
