PRESIDENTIAL daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte will surely run for the highest post of the land, according to a top official of her own party.

However, Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) Secretary-General Anthony del Rosario said the only hindrance to her bid for the highest post of the land is if her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, holds true to his earlier statement of considering running for Vice President.

And if in case the young Duterte decides to run for President, it would represent a clear defiance of her Dad’s advice.

If it’s really the case wherein President Digong will run for vice president in 2022, then in all likelihood, you will probably see another presidential candidate aligned with President Digong,” del Rosario was quoted as saying during the interview.

The statement came a few days after the President made a public announcement and categorically said he can be considered a candidate for vice president in time for next year’s general elections, “to maintain equilibrium.”

Del Rosario added that Sara does not seem inclined on a Duterte-Duterte ticket, citing “check and balances.”

It’s just the principle behind it. May problema tayo sa check and balance. And the mayor is aware of that… I believe, like she mentioned earlier, weeks ago, a Duterte-Duterte tandem is not really something she’s in favor of,” del Rosario further averred.

In the event that the President decides to seek the second highest elective post, del Rosario hinted at the presidential daughter as supporting any candidate her father endorses as president in the 2022 national elections.

If Mayor Sara is no longer interested to run for president because her father is running for vice president, then anything could be possible. In this particular incident, if Senator Bong Go is to be chosen as standard bearer of PDP and President Digong will be vice president candidate, I don’t see why Mayor Sara would oppose that particular tandem. I believe that the mayor, Mayor Sara, will support whoever her father endorses,” he added.
