The Quezon City Police District (QCPD), under the leadership of PCOL Randy Glen Silvio, DDDA/OIC, scored another operational success after swiftly arresting a carnapping suspect and recovering a stolen motorcycle just four hours after the incident was reported in Barangay Pasong Tamo, Quezon City.
According to the report, at around 1:56 a.m. on August 25, 2025, the victim, a Deputy Ex-O of Barangay Pasong Tamo, parked the barangay-owned Yamaha NMAX motorcycle along Sampaguita Street to buy food. Upon returning, he discovered that the motorcycle had been stolen.
CCTV footage later revealed that three suspects, on board a white Toyota Vios taxi with body name “JDCM Taxi” and plate number UVV 239, were involved. One suspect forcibly tampered with the ignition switch of the motorcycle, while the other two acted as lookouts inside the taxi before fleeing toward Luzon Avenue with the stolen vehicle.
Upon receiving the report at around 11 a.m. the same day, operatives from Holy Spirit Police Station 14 immediately launched a hot pursuit operation. With the cooperation of the taxi operator, the team tracked down and arrested alias “Joey,” 45, a taxi driver, at around 3:00 p.m. He later revealed the whereabouts of his cohorts and the stolen motorcycle.
The operatives proceeded to Magnolia Street, Barangay Sangandaan, where they recovered the stolen motorcycle, which had already been tampered with and stripped of several accessories. However, the two other suspects managed to escape.
The arrested suspect will be charged with violation of R.A. 10883 or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016, while charges against his at-large cohorts will be filed through regular filing. Continuous follow-up operations are now underway to track down and arrest the fugitives.
Verification through the Investigation Solution Automatic Verification (ISAV) System revealed that Joey had prior cases for violation of R.A. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
