PRURide Virtual Challenge on Pulse app as PRURide PH goes digital

Pru Life UK is encouraging everyone that despite the lockdown and various levels of community quarantines, they should not let their fitness goals go on lockdown or be quarantined, too.

That is why Pru Life UK is helping everyone finish the year healthy and fit with this year’s edition of PRURide PH – the inaugural PRURide Virtual Challenge on Pulse.

Powered by Pulse, Pru Life UK’s all-in-one health management app, the country’s largest cycling festival kicked off recently that saw cyclists, enthusiasts, and families experience fun and safe cycling wherever they were.

Open to all Pulse users for FREE, PRURide PH partnered with Garmin, a renowned leader in the aviation, marine, automotive, outdoor, and fitness markets. By using Pulse-compatible wearables available on Android and iOS such as the Garmin smartwatch, which can be easily synchronized with Pulse to track participants’ performances, even stationary bike users were able to feel the adrenaline rush of an official rider.

“These challenging times have highlighted the benefits of cycling. Not only is the activity an antidote to our mostly sedentary lifestyle, but it is also an ideal mode of transportation that promotes social distancing. These advantages encouraged us to go ahead with our annual PRURide PH, but in a way that is more attuned to the new normal,” says Pru Life UK Senior Vice President and Chief Customer Marketing Officer Allan Tumbaga.

To join the virtual rides, all cyclists needed to do was download the Pulse app for FREE on any Android and iOS device, and sync it with a Pulse-compatible wearable. Within the app, users can choose and join one or multiple PRURide Virtual Challenges – 30KM, 60KM, 500KM, and 1,000KM.

Families were also open to join the Pulse Cycling – PRURider community for a chance to win special prizes such as Best Decorated Bike, Best Christmas-Themed Family Photo with Bike, and Best Kid Costume Photo with Bike.

PRURide PH celebrity ambassadors Kim Atienza, Gretchen Ho, and Zoren Legaspi, together with two-time PRURide PH women’s elite champion and Prudential RideLondon finisher Jermyn Prado, as well as former PRURide PH winners and Prudential RideLondon finishers Ismael Grospe and Ronnel Hualda, were pleased to lend their support to this year’s event.

All cyclists who completed the routes received e-certificates and raffle entries to the PRURide Virtual Challenge Raffle, which took place at the end of the event, for a chance to win an exclusive Garmin 360, Tacx Galaxia Rollers, and other premium prizes. In addition, the first 3,000 finishers received discount vouchers from Garmin. PRURide Virtual Challenge early bird finishers also received a Rudy Project sling bag and a PRURide PH 2020 jersey, all delivered to their preferred addresses.

As part of Pru Life UK’s “We Do Health” advocacy, the PRURide Virtual Challenge on Pulse is just one of the company’s ongoing efforts to promote cycling as an accessible and safer mode of transportation in the new normal. Pru Life UK decided to go virtual to make the activity easy, safe, and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of their skill level.

“PRURide PH has always been an inclusive festival for all cyclists, from beginners to professionals. In addition to providing our participants with an extraordinary cycling experience, we also want Filipinos to have an opportunity to have fun even amid tough circumstances. Cycling is an excellent way to start building holistic wellness management and healthy habits,” ends Tumbaga.

To register, simply download the Pulse app for free on Google Play and Apple App Stores. The Challenge started last December 18 and will end January 31, 2021. For more information, visit www.prulifeuk.com.ph or the Pru Life UK Facebook page, facebook.com/prulifeukofficial.
