SUBIC BAY FREEPORT – The Bureau of Customs-Port of Subic surpasses its target last month. The agency announced on Friday, October 2, that it collected P2.77 billion in revenue taxes for the month of September, 50 percent over its monthly target.
Port of Subic (PoS) Collector Atty. Maritess Martin said in a report, while there remain some restrictions in port operations and many manufacturing firms are not yet in full-scale operations due to Covid19, the Port of Subic managed to maintain its excellent performance for the past months.
Martin said Subic’s collection for the month of September has reached P2,772,497,748, significantly higher than its target collection of P1,772,743,928.18 with a surplus of 56 percent or P999,753,855.83.
Martin noted that in July this year, Port of Subic has also surpassed its month target by 1.18 percent, after the bureau collected P2.26 billion; while in May, the POS collected P1.74 billion which is 12% higher than the target collection of P1.56, and in June, the collection was P2.76 billion which is 45% higher than the P1.91 billion target.
Martin said that despite many challenges, the Port of Subic remain vigilant in safeguarding its customs area to deliver what is due to national coffers.
“Let’s altogether fuel up the Port of Subic to collect more taxes due to government so as to serve the country in this time of pandemic,” Martin stressed.
