PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) PGen. Dionardo Carlos reminded all police commanders and police personnel that they are being actively monitored about their compliance with Comelec regulations regarding the upcoming elections.
The reminder was made by the PNP chief, while saying that the reminder was made to ensure that PNP personnel will remain apolitical during the election period.
An initial step done, adds the PNP chief, is the transfer or re-assignment of police personnel who may have a relative in an area vying for an elective post, or those identified with incumbents who are running for re-election.
He said they continue to receive information from police officers’ subordinates or from the citizens themselves about irregularities being done by certain policemen related to the elections.
PGen. Carlos said he had the complaints verified twice already, and likewise assured that PNP personnel who will violate the PNP’s guidelines on being non-partisan during the elections will be dealt with accordingly.
