THE Philippine National Police Health Service (PNPHS) today announced that it has already recorded 106 new cases of COVID-19 infection among PNP personnel.

This brings the total number of active cases in the PNP to 1,970 out of the total 32,464 COVID-19 infections within the organization.

The PNPHS said 30,402 of the COVID-19 cases in the PNP have already recovered, including 93 new recoveries as of today, Monday, August 16, and were already restored to full-duty status.

Meanwhile, PNP Chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar condoled with the family of a 50-year old police officer assigned in Region 1 who died of COVID-19.

The deceased was tested positive on July 28, 2021, and was admitted to a nearby hospital. However, after 17 days of battling against the infectious disease, the said police officer succumbed and recorded as the 92nd fatality,” Eleazar said.

“The PNP expresses its most sincere condolences to the family of this latest fatality. It is just saddening that every day, a member of the police dies from COVID-19. That is why we are doubling our efforts to make every member of the PNP fully vaccinated,” Eleazar said.

Eleazar also reported that there are already 79,082, or 35.66 percent, of the police force who are fully vaccinated, while 92,914 , or 41.89 percent, are just awaiting for their second dose.

This means only 49,786, or 22.45 percent, of PNP personnel, are not yet vaccinated.
