LIMAY, Bataan — The Peninsula Electric Cooperative (PENELCO) distributed solar-powered street lights to the Municipality of Limay on January 26, 2026, marking the first batch of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative dubbed “TUGON – Solar Spark.”
The ceremonial turnover was held at the Limay Municipal Hall.
The project aims to provide sustainable and reliable lighting to local communities, helping enhance public safety, order, and overall community welfare.
It is being implemented in partnership with GN Power and Global Business Power Energy Development Corporation (GMEC), reflecting a shared commitment to renewable energy and community development.
The distribution was led by PENELCO Director Jaime Munar, with Director Cecilia Bacsa also in attendance. Limay Mayor Hon. Richie Jason D. David thanked PENELCO and its partners for supporting programs that bring direct and lasting benefits to the town.
The Institutional Services and Development Department (ISDD) played a key role in the activity, ensuring the smooth and orderly distribution of the solar street lights.
PENELCO said the “TUGON – Solar Spark” program will be rolled out to more communities in the coming months as part of its mission to promote sustainable and inclusive growth.
