THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Climate Change Commission (CCC) signed today a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that seeks to build the adaptive capacity of Filipino communities, increase the resilience of the country’s natural ecosystems against climate change, and optimize mitigation opportunities toward sustainable development in the Philippines.
Both institutions also agreed to share information and technical expertise in the implementation of programs on the National Climate Change Action Plan.
Under the agreement, there will also be capacity-building exercises, sharing of equipment, facilities, and vessels, and also perform activities to help promote ecological and environmental stability in the Philippines.
The agreement was signed by PCG Commandant, CG Admiral Artemio Abu, and CCC Commissioner Albert Dela Cruz Sr. August 6, 2022 in Coron, Palawan.
Also acting as witnesses to the signing of the agreement were Coron Mayor Mario Reyes Jr. and PCG’s Marine Environmental Protection Commander, CG Rear Admiral Robert Patrimonio.
