PBA to hold grueling game schedule this week

In light of the COVID-19-related game cancellations last week, the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) was forced to revise the schedule for its bubble games.

The bubble format is already a first in the league’s history, and starting November 3, another first will be recorded in the PBA’s annals with the holding of triple, and even quadruple-header games, again, another first for the league.

Games on November 3, 4 and 6 at the Angeles University Foundation Sports Arena will feature three quadruple-headers, with one triple-header on November 5.

PBA bubble games were postponed last Friday in compliance with additional health protocols mandated by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases or IATF.

The four-games-a-day schedules will start as early as 10 a.m. while the triple-bill games will start at 1 p.m.

The games on November 3 will feature Blackwater Elite against San Miguel Beer, Phoenix Super LPG versus Terrafirma Dyip, Northport Batang Pier is pitted against TNT Tropang Giga, and Barangay Ginebra San Miguel locks horns with the Alaska Aces.

As soon as the announcement of the new schedule of games came, the PBA also announced that all players of all the teams participating in the Philippine Cup bubble tested negative.

Last week, the players underwent a third round of Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) testing cycle. Shortly thereafter, the PBA announced the cancellation of its Friday games.
