POLICE authorities seized about P13.8-million worth of illegal drugs during a buy-bust operation in Lapu-lapu City on Friday morning.
PNP Chief Police General Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar said a high-value drug personality, Mark Gil James Dangarang alias “James,” 22 years old, and a resident of Barangay Duljo Fatima, Cebu City, was arrested during the buy bust conducted by the joint elements of the City Intelligence Unit and Special Operations Unit 7, PNP Drug Enforcement Group, Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 in Sitio Saac II, Barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City at 9:45 AM on May 21, 2021.
Confiscated from Dangarang were 2,033 grams of a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, with an estimated Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) value of PhP13,824,400, a bundle of fake money topped with three pieces of genuine P500 bill used as buy-bust money, a backpack used as container, and a paper bag.
“The PNP will be relentless in our pursuit of criminals behind illegal drugs. We will go after high-value targets, hindi tayo titigil hangga’t hindi natin nalilinis ang bawat komunidad sa iligal na droga na siyang sumisira sa kinabukasan ng bawat pamilya at kabataan,” Eleazar warned anew.
The suspect is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
