Over 260,000 Overseas Filipinos repatriated to PH

THE Philippine Government has repatriated a total of 265,111 of Overseas Filipinos (OFs) from around the globe back to the country since February this year because of the pandemic, according to Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

The agency said the OF’s which include some 83,866 or 31.63% seafarers while 181,245 or 68.37% are land based.

The DFA last week sends two chartered flights to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and to Dili, Timor Leste to fetched a total of 374 Overseas Filipinos back here in the country.

A total of 60 OFs among those who flew back here with 314 other OFs, were reportedly stranded in Dili, Timor Leste, for several months following the lockdown and missed flights into the country.

Despite the challenges, the DFA remains fully committed to the mandate of the Assistance-to-Nationals and its efforts to repatriate every Filipinos amid the pandemic.
