MANILA, Philippines — Eko Roni Saputra of Indonesia toppled Filipino Ramon Gonzales on ONE mix martial arts tournament in Singapore on Friday evening, November 7, 2020.
The Filipino flyweight bid to climb the rankings and enter the title picture got derailed.
Facing his toughest challenge yet, Gonzales was stopped in the first round by Indonesian “Komodo dragon” in ONE: Inside the Matrix II at Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Gonzales got in trouble quickly after he was taken down a little over a minute into the bout by Saputra, who went for the rear-naked choke to pick up the submission victory.
The 29-year-old Saputra picked up his fourth straight win to improve 4-1.
Gonzales (4-4) lost for the second consecutive time after going on a three-fight streak.
