OMB raid seizes P100-M worth of computer gadgets in Bulacan

GUIGUINTO, Bulacan – Authorities of the Optical Media Board (OMB) raided a warehouse and was able to confiscate an estimated P100-million  worth of computer desktop, universal serial bus (USB) and Television monitor with storage devices without permits inside a  warehouse complex here.

According to OMB Chairman Atty. Christian D. Natividad, three people were arrested including two Chinese nationals identified as Quan Xi Gua and Huang Yingjie and Joy Alegado, a Filipina whom she introduced herself as the secretary at the said establishment.

Investigation showed that around 2:00PM when the said raiding team headed personally by Natividad swooped down at  Ecom Electronics Reconditioning Services situated inside the IRS Industrial Complex,  along L. Mercado St., Guiguinto, Bulacan allegedly owned by a former mayor here.

“The said warehouse was discovered after sending an application for the license of the said establishment through an online application Thursday morning by a certain Jocelyn Drueco Casimiro, claimed as the owner,” said Natividad.

Based on the intelligence report, the OMB discovered that Casimiro was just a dummy and the real owner is a Chinese national.

“The said confiscated items were imported in Korea and their establishment is operating without permits or license from the Optical Media Board, which is illegal and clearly violating the Republic Act No.9239 “ said Natividad.

The arrested suspects and the owner are facing charges of Violation of Republic Act No. 9239 or Optical Media Act of 2003.
