THE Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced the reimplementation of the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP), commonly known as the “number coding” scheme, in the National Capital Region (NCR).
MMDA Chairman Benhur Abalos said that instead of the usual whole-day schedule, the scheme will run only from Monday to Friday and only during the afternoon rush hours, which is between 5 pm to 8 pm, except holidays.
Only private vehicles will be covered by the reimplementation of the scheme. Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs) such as buses and jeepneys, including tricycles and transport network vehicle services, are exempted.
The MMDA chief said included in the exemption are motorcycles, garbage trucks, fuel trucks, and other motor vehicles transporting essential or perishable goods.
He said the Metro Manila mayors have already signed the resolution for printing in the Official Gazette, and the scheme will start two days after it is published.
