THE government said that vaccine recipients should not be made to queue for hours just to receive their jabs.
This was what President Rodrigo Duterte told heads of local government units (LGUs) as he urged them to look into the use of technology applications or apps to make the vaccination proceedings move smoothly and efficiently, and also prevent health risks.
“Huwag ninyo paglinyahin kasi magkakasakit din ‘yan. Just the same, the very thing you try to avoid will happen… Barangay captain has a list of people in his barangay. It behooves upon you guys to make sure that they are given the numbers and appointed time and not make them queue,” Duterte said.
Simultaneously, the President also ordered barangay captains to arrest owners of resorts who are allowing mass gathering in their establishments.
“Kaya kayong mga barangay captain, kayo ang mayor sa inyong lugar. Kapag nagpalpak yan, ‘di mo na-control and there are celebrations everywhere… kagaya nung sa swimming pool, you arrest the… the barangay captain should arrest the owner of resort allowing people in numbers to be together in the swimming pool enjoying at the same time violating the law,” said Duterte.
Duterte, however, clarified that minors should be spared in the event that they get to spot a social gathering.
“Ang bata ‘di mo maaresto, you have to just pick them up from the swimming pool and send them home. Ngayon ang mga nanay at mga tatay, ‘yun ang pwede,” the President said.
The government earlier ordered the immediate closure and cancellation of the business permit of a Caloocan-based private resort after hundreds of customers were accommodated despite the community quarantine implemented in the locality.
