THE Department of Health (DOH) reported that new COVID-19 cases today went back up to the 5k level with a 5,484 count, higher than yesterday’s 4,289 total, according to the latest DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin issued today, July 8, 2021.
Also, the total number of COVID-19 infections in the country reached 1,455,585, with 49,036 listed as active cases or patients who are undergoing treatment in government hospitals and temporary quarantine facilities.
The DOH also logged 3,925 new recoveries from the COVID-19 disease today, much lower than the 6,399 recoveries recorded yesterday.
Currently, there are now 1,380,899 individuals listed as total recoveries.
A total of 191 cases were added to the list of COVID-19 deaths today, up from the 164 cases recorded yesterday. This brings to 25,650 the total number of COVID-19 fatalities.
Moreover, 152 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation.
There were nine duplicates removed from the total case count, of which six were recoveries.
Meanwhile, positivity rate is at 11.3 percent from 49,926 people who were tested.
Majority, or 94.6 percent of the cases, are mild and asymptomatic.
All laboratories were operational on July 6, 2021 and all laboratories were able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS).
The DOH continues to remind the public to strictly observe the Minimum Public Health Standards to ensure the safe recovery of our country. The moment any symptoms of COVID-19 are experienced, coordinate immediately with the BHERTs (Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams) or with the One COVID Referral Center.
The agency reiterates that the safety of the country is everyone’s responsibility, and that by helping each other, the country will overcome this COVID-19 pandemic.
