Naic police station finance officer fall prey, lost P100,000 to cyber-phishing

A FINANCE officer of the Naic Police Station reportedly fell prey to cyber phishing and lost a lot of money in the process.

Reports said a total of P100,000 were taken from the Landbank account of P/SMSgt. Haidee Sabas.

In her complaint, there were two fund transfer transactions made from the ATM account of the Naic Police Station where the station’s Maintenance Operating and Other Expenses (MOOE) were deposited.

The amount of P47,700 were transferred to a Landbank account while the second transaction worth P50,000 were transferred to a Union Bank Account.

Sabas went to a Landbank ATM at Brgy. Ibayo Silangan in Naic, Cavite to conduct a balance inquiry and was surprised to learn that only P57 was left from their MOOE ATM account.

She immediately informed their Chief of Police and yesterday filed a formal complaint at the Office of the Branch Manager of Land Bank of the Philippines in Rosario, Cavite.

Calabarzon Police Regional Office immediately conducted an investigation, and expressed the thought that whenever there are missing funds in a police station office is it was already used for e-sabong (electronic cockfighting).
