THE prices of consumer goods rose quicker in March 2022 compared to February.
In the Consumer Price Index released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the price index of consumer good rose faster to 1 percent in March 2022 compared to only 0.3 percent in February.
The PSA also pointed to higher price increases in other goods, including food and non-alcoholic beverages that was at 1.3 percent this month from only 0.3 percent last February.
Alcoholic beverages and tobacco-based products rose to 0.8 percent from 0.1 percent.
Utility bills such as for housing, electricity gas and other forms of fuel were the ones that registered the fastest increase at 1.4 percent from 0.3 percent.
On the other hand, the costs of services or food in restaurants and accommodation services slowed to 0.2 percent in March compared to 0.3 percent last February.
On separate data, it was also seen by the PSA that the consumer price index in Metro Manila registered a 1-percent increase this March compared to a lowly 0.1 percent in February.
The fastest increase in prices was recorded by food and non-alcoholic beverages, pegged at 1.9 percent in March from a negative 0.1 percent last month.
The consumer price index point to the average rate in the movement of prices of products and services that a family buys every month.
