MMDA to deploy more personnel for May 9 polls

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced that starting Sunday, May 8 until May 21, 2022, it will deploy 90 personnel to man traffic within the vicinity of the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Pasay City, where the National Board of Canvassers (NBOC) will be canvassing the votes for the national elections.

MMDA Chairman Atty. Romando Artes said the dispatch of additional personnel from the MMDA’s different units and offices form part of its traffic management plan for the May 9 national and local elections.

Traffic congestion in the area is expected as it will coincide with some graduation rites at the PICC Plenary Hall. Hence, we will deploy personnel to ensure the smooth flow of traffic,” Artes said.

The MMDA is in close coordination with the Commission on Elections, Southern Police District, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Fire Protection, and the local government unit of Pasay City for other administrative and operational activities in the area,” he added.

Moreover, Artes mentioned that the Magdalena Jalandoni Street from Buendia to Vicente Sotto Street will be closed to vehicular traffic on the said dates to give way for the canvassing of votes.

Traffic road signages will be installed by the MMDA Traffic Engineering Center on the northbound portions of Macapagal Boulevard and Diokno Boulevard to guide the motorists,” he said.

The MMDA chief likewise appealed to motorists to take alternate routes to avoid inconvenience.
