THE Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) admitted that it will not be easy to find the “missing sabungeros” who were allegedly dumped in Taal Lake, according to claims from the alleged whistleblower on the case.
According to PCG Spokesperson Capt. Noemie Cayabyab, their technical divers will face many challenges to carry out the search.
Specifically, the deepest dive ever achieved by PCG divers was only up to 100 meters but the depth of Taal Lake is 170 meters.
Also, weather conditions, water quality or clarity or turbidity can affect waves and volcanic activity.
In addition, the time the bodies of the victims have been in the water means it may no longer be in the exact location where it was dumped.
In the event that a search is conducted, Cayabyab said they will coordinate with the Philippine Navy to assist in the diving.
According to Cayabyab, there is currently no official request from the Department of Justice (DOJ) to conduct a dive in Taal Lake.
According to information from the PCG, they have 60 technical divers who can conduct deep dives in said waters.
