Celebrating its 68th year of service, Mary Mediatrix Medical Center (MMMC) has expanded its healthcare offerings with the launch of Batangas’ first hospital-based Urgent Care Center and a new Lifestyle and Wellness Center, reinforcing its commitment to delivering accessible, timely, and patient-centered healthcare.
The Urgent Care Center is designed to provide immediate medical attention for patients with non-life-threatening illnesses and minor injuries, bridging the gap between primary care clinics and hospital emergency services. By treating low-acuity cases in a dedicated facility, the center enables the hospital’s Main Emergency Room to focus on critically ill patients, improving patient flow, reducing waiting times, and optimizing emergency resources.
“Nowadays, effective healthcare must ensure that every patient receives the right level of care at the right time, in the right setting,” according to Dr. Rommel Lojo, Medical Director of Mary Mediatrix Medical Center. “The Urgent Care Center enables us to deliver timely, evidence-based treatment for non-life-threatening conditions and improve the efficiency of our emergency services. As for the Lifestyle and Wellness Center, it empowers individuals to take charge of their health through prevention, early detection, and personalized wellness.”
Patients visiting the Urgent Care Center undergo an initial triage and clinical assessment using the internationally recognized Emergency Severity Index (ESI), ensuring treatment is prioritized based on the urgency and complexity of each case. The facility is staffed by experienced healthcare professionals and equipped with modern medical technology to provide standardized, compassionate care.
MMMC said the new facilities build on its recent recognition by the World Stroke Organization, which awarded the hospital its Platinum Award for achieving excellent patient outcomes through timely intervention, coordinated clinical pathways, and adherence to evidence-based standards.
