Mandaluyong City announces population protection

THE local government of Mandaluyong City announced that it has already achieved population protection after the city government already gave the first dose of COVID-19 vaccines to 325,188 individuals.

This equates to 100.01 percent of the city’s population as of August 9, based on the records of the LGU’s City Health Department.

Mandaluyong City’s total population is 464,467 and the number of individuals eligible to be vaccinated is 325,127 or 70 percent of the total population.

In addition, the city government has also vaccinated with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine 105.07 percent of its senior citizens, or 31,257 individuals, as of July 28. Of these numbers, 25,597 individuals have already received their second dose.

Based on the Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), there are 29,749 registered senior citizens residing in the city.

“We’re happy to announce that we’ve reached our target this early. Our next goal is to complete the remaining 2nd dose for those who have yet to receive it,” Mandaluyong City Mayor Menchie Abalos said.

Abalos said the success of the city’s vaccination program can be attributed to the local government’s partnership with the private sector and the cooperation of every Mandaleño.
