Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra has confirmed that the suspect in the assassination of Cebu-based lawyer Joey Luis Wee is now under the custody of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
According to Guevarra, an alias “Peralta” was identified as the suspect in the murder and arrested in Laguna.
On November 23, Wee was gunned down by Peralta in Barangay Kalambasagan.
Authorities said that one of the motives behind the killing is related to the cases it handled, particularly the graft cases of some officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) in Central Visayas.
