SINGER-COMPOSER James Patrick “Jimmy” Bondoc was sworn in as the newest member of the Board of Directors of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).

The artist, who previously served as Vice President of PAGCOR’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Group, has been appointed to be a board member of the state-run gaming agency by President Rodrigo Duterte.

The President’s office issued formal appointment papers on September 10, 2021 stating that Bondoc will perform the unexpired term of office of the late Director Reynaldo Concordia, which starts on July 1, 2021 until June 30, 2022.

Despite the initial schedule of his pledge in Malacañang by the third week of September, Bondoc already took his oath which was witnessed by an official in Barangay Pinagkaisahan in Quezon City on Wednesday to “immediately assume the duties left by the late PAGCOR Director.”

Bondoc, as the successor, recalled Concordia’s deeds which he perceived as an inspiration to continue the latter’s interests in providing the public utmost service.

“Former Director Concordia used to actively take part in PAGCOR’s Corporate Social Responsibility programs. He would go even to remote places to ensure that PAGCOR’s socio-civic initiatives would reach those who need them most. I will offer my services in memory of him and to serve our Chairman’s best intentions,” the newly-appointed board member said.

Bondoc emphasized that the seat given to him is the key to fulfill his goal in developing the agency’s CSR which he led from October 2017 to July 2021.

“Being in this new position will allow me to make policy adjustments that will further enhance PAGCOR’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs and hopefully, the agency’s revenue generation capacity amidst the ongoing pandemic,” he said.

Believing that his past experiences as a former chief of the CSR Group matters, Bondoc believes that he is now equipped with “deeper understanding of the agency’s core commitments to nation-building” to achieve its main mission.

Our main motivation for working hard is the Filipino people. PAGCOR’s CSR programs have touched the lives of many marginalized Filipinos,” he stressed.

In a statement, the agency pointed out that Bondoc initiated reforms within the CSR Group during his term that elicited immediate response or services to the beneficiaries of their programs.

He further served as an officer-in-charge and assistant vice president of PAGCOR’s Entertainment Department from 2016 to 2017.

Bondoc is currently a fourth year law student at the University of the East in Manila, a different journey he took aside from his music career.
