Due to health reasons, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has announced his resignation from office.
Abe emphasized that he did not want his health to get in the way of decision making in leading Japan. He also apologised to the his nation for failing to complete his term.
It was reported before that Abe has been suffering from ulcerative colitis for years now. The said illness is an inflammatory bowel disease which he admitted has worsen.
It can be remembered that he became Japan’s longest serving prime minister last year. He began his term in 2012.
In 2007, Abe resigned abruptly from an earlier term as PM due to ulcerative colitis, a chronic condition he experienced since his teenage years.
