“Warning all men, not to physically abuse wives or be thrown in jail.”
A strong reminder from Police Major Michael John Villanueva, the top CIDG officer in Olongapo City after they arrested an abusive husband for beating up his wife in Barangay Barreto, Olongapo City.
On Thursday evening, October 29, a woman personally went to the CIDG headquarters in Barangay Barreto to file a complaint of physical abuse against her husband Rudy Sipalan.
According to Villanueva, the victim just came home when she found her husband who was drunk at the time and immediately confronted her.
The quarrel between the two ended up strangling her with the husband’s fists and punching her several times until she collapses.
The victim stood up and immediately fled from her husband to seek help to the authorities.
Police later found Silapan who is in hiding at his parents’ house still in Barangay Barreto.
However, Silapan was not immediately arrested because he manage to used their 2-year-old son as a shield against the approaching team but later surrendered to the law.
Silapan is currently detained at the Olongapo CIDG custodial facility and faces violations under Republic Act 9262 or the Violence Against Women and Their Children Act and RA 7610 or Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act for using a 2-year-old child for his unnecessary stupidity.
