A GUN ban will be implemented in Davao and the National Capital Region (NCR) in preparation for the inauguration of the country’s new president and vice president.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) will suspend all Permit To Carry Firearms Outside Residence (PTCFOR) of gunowners in the two areas.
This is to ensure that security during the inauguration of President-elect Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice-President-elect Sara Duterte-Carpio.
According to PNP Director for Operations PMGen.Val De leon, the gun ban in Davao City will become effective starting at 12:01 a.m. on June 16 and will last until the evening of June 21, 2022.
Meanwhile, the gun bank in Metro Manila will commence midnight of June 27 and will remain effective until July 2, 2022.
This means gun owners will not be allowed to bring their firearms outside of their residence on the mentioned dates even if they have valid PTCFOR.
Meanwhile, the PNP will suggest to the government of the City of Manila to declare June 30, 2022 as a holiday to avoid heavy flow of traffic during the Marcos inauguration.
In Davao City, a no-fly, no-sail will be enforced on Sunday, June 19, 2022 in time for the inauguration of VP-elect Duterte-Carpio at the San Pedro Square in Davao City.
It was learned that the PNP will deploy a total of 3,711 police personnel in Davao City for the inauguration.
