Mariveles, Bataan – Several classrooms at Mariveles National High School – Cabcaben were engulfed in flames last night, but swift and coordinated efforts from multiple agencies ensured the fire was quickly contained.
Responding units included the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Mariveles, the Public Safety Office (PSO), Mariveles Rescue Medics, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), AFAB Fire, BFP teams from Limay, Orion, Pilar, and Balanga, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) Balanga, Metro Bataan Development Authority (MBDA), the Philippine Red Cross, Fire Brigade Lamao, Lamao Rescue, and the Seafront Water Tanker.
The fire was declared under control at approximately 9:30 PM and fully extinguished by 9:45 PM.
Mariveles Mayor AJ Concepcion, accompanied by local barangay officials, visited the site to assess the damage and ensure that immediate assistance would be provided to the school and those affected.
The local government expressed profound gratitude to the responding agencies for their efficient action, which prevented further destruction. Mayor Concepcion also urged the public to exercise heightened caution to avoid similar incidents in the future.
An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
