Bulacan Governor Daniel Fernando met with all local journalists in the province at his official residence regarding his call to assist the provincial government in its fight against the Coronavirus disease or COVID-19.
The governor asked legitimate media practitioners based in Bulacan for their cooperation in extending the local government’s campaign against the deadly virus by feeding and providing information to the Provincial Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 Response on those who violate the national government’s Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) health protocols.
The call was in relation to Executive Order No. 2 series of 2021 ordering group organizers in the province to seek the approval of the Bulacan PTF on COVID-19 Response headed by Gov. Fernando prior to the conduct of any mass gathering.
According to the EO, in order to consider the application for the approval of the conduct of any mass gathering, organizers are required to submit at least 10 calendar days before the intended date of the event, a letter addressed to the Provincial PTF on COVID-19 Response clearly stating the nature and purpose of the mass gathering and seeking approval for its conduct.
The governor told the journalists to report to the authorities if they saw anyone conducting a mass gathering that explicitly violates health protocols where they could also question said violators.
According to Fernando, as journalists and among the frontliners and public servants, they must also participate in the government’s fight by being vigilant to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the province.
“Hindi po tayo dapat na kumampante. Kasabay ng patuloy na pagbaba ng kaso ng COVID sa ating lalawigan, ilang lugar dito sa ating bansa ay nakararanas ng muling pagtaas ng kaso lalo na matapos ang panahon ng Kapaskuhan. Upang maiwasan ang ganitong sitwasyon, hinihiling ko po ang mahigpit na pagsunod nating lahat, at kooperasyon ng bawat isa,” ayon kay Fernando.
The governor also called on his fellow public servants in the province to set aside first the politics during this pandemic period.
He insisted they do first their job as public servants instead of raising non-sense political issues which will not help in resolving the health crisis.
