It was an awards night “virtually” dominated by a movie about a female fan’s obsession of her boy idol.
The 46th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Gabi ng Parangal 2020 was literally a “Fan Girl” night.
The movie won 8 awards out of its total 9 nominations overall, which further highlighted its domination of the awards night that was done online, just like the showing of the movies that competed in MMFF 2020.
“Magikland” followed with five awards while “The Boy Foretold by the Stars” went home with three.
It was a twin win for the movie’s lead stars as Paulo Avelino and Charlie Dizon won the awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role and Best Actress in a Leading Role, respectively.
Best Picture went to “Fan Girl,” “The Boy Foretold by the Stars” snagged 2nd Best Picture while “Tagpuan” went home with 3rd Best Picture honors.
