Inaprubahan na ni Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso ang pagsasagawa ng face-to-face classes at clerkship programs para sa health-related programs sa apat na medical schools sa lungsod.
Ngayong hapon, nakipagpulong sa alkalde ang mga opisyal ng Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) College of Medicine, Metropolitan Medical Center College of Arts and Sciences, Chinese General Hospital Colleges, at Manila Theological College – College of Medicine.
“What is the goal here? To produce doctors, nurses, midwives and all others allowed ng CHED (Commission on Higher Education) to conduct face-to-face classes,” sinabi ng alkalde sa kanilang pagpupulong.
“If we can produce that next year, then at least we can continue to strengthen [the number] of our medical professionals handling the situation,” dagdag pa ni Domagoso.
Sa ilalim ng panukala ng PLM, hiniling ni University President Emmanuel Leyco ang gradual o dahan-dahan na reopening ng clinical clerkship program sa Ospital ng Maynila Medical Center.
Hiniling naman ni Metropolitan Medical Center College of Arts and Sciences Executive Vice President Remedior Habacon, MD, ang unti-unting pagbubukas ng face-to-face classes at clinical clerkship sa ilalim ng Doctor of Medicine program.
Kasama rin ang Manila Theological College – College of Medicine na humiling ng pagpayag ng alkalde para sa mga 4th year medical student na magsagawa ng limitadong in-hospital duty sa Tondo Medical Center, na siyang “base” hospital ng nasabing paaralan.
Inaprubahan naman ni Domagoso ang kahilingan ng Chinese General Hospital Colleges, na mag-patuloy ang kanilang hands-on pre-clinical training at clinical rotation sa kanilang campus laboratory at ospital para sa mga estudyante sa ilalim ng programa ng Doctor of Medicine, BS Nursing, BS Medical Technology, BS Radiologic Technology, at BS Physical Therapy.
“If you need testing for your students, we have a good capacity to test para magkaroon ng peace of mind among each other, including your professors,” sinabi ng alkalde sa mga kinatawan ng apat na paaralang medikal.
“Gusto kong akapin ang lahat, we want to be inclusive – whether you’re a private hospital, you are in the City of Manila. Sabi ko nga sa inyo, bawat buhay ng doctors, nurses and other allied medical services na nasa frontline is valued,” pahayag nito.
Matatandaan na inaprubahan ng alaklde noong Pebrero ang panukala ng UST at Centro Escolar Universirty na magsagawa ng face-to-face classes.
Sa ilalim ng CHED guidelines, ang mga educational institution ay kailangan munang kumonsulta sa kani-kanilang mga local government units (LGUs) bago magsumite ng kanilang opisyal na aplikasyon para sa limited face-to-face classes.
