Ex-Labor chief Laguesma, labor advocate Ople accept offer to lead DOLE, DMW

FORMER Labor chief Bienvenido Laguesma accepted the offer of presumptive President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. to head the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

At the same time, labor advocate Susan “Toots” Ople also accepted the offer to head the newly created Department of Migrant Workers (DMW).

This development was confirmed by Atty. Vic Rodriguez, spokesperson of Marcos Jr. and also his Chief of Staff.

Marcos already met with Laguesma and Ople where they discussed the importance of knowing what to do with the DMW to be able to start working on future plans while waiting for the mandate of the new department in terms of functions and scope of its work.

Meanwhile, Marcos also expressed confidence that the abilities of Cavite Rep. Atty. Boying Remulla, his track record in government service and being an outstanding lawyer will be of big help as the presumptive president assembles the members of his Cabinet.
