ONLY eight areas in the National Capital Region (NCR) are currently under granular lockdown.

This was contained in the report of Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Año to President Rodrigo Duterte during the president’s “Talk to the People” session last night

Año said there are 26 households comprised of 70 individuals from these eight areas are affected.

For the whole country, there are only 77 areas under granular lockdown from 18 local government units (LGUs) or 61 barangays wherein 99 households are affected.

According to Año, this means that the Alert Level System being implemented is effective, which also resulted to the continued decline in the number of COVID-19 cases.

Meanwhile, Año also reported to President Duterte that the number of violators of minimum public health standards have gone down by half.

Based on data presented, only more than 44,000 were cited for not wearing a face mask, 631 held gatherings, and more than 19,000 did not observe physical distancing.

This means, he said, that majority of the public observes the wearing of face masks, avoids mass gatherings and continues to observe physical distancing.
