PRESIDENTIAL spokesperson Harry Roque gave the assurance that President Rodrigo Duterte will attend Independence Day rites on June 12.
However, Duterte’s presence to commemorate the country’s independence will not be at the Rizal monument in Luneta as what the other Presidents before him did.
“Dadalo in person ang Presidente sa komemorasyon ng ating Independence Day, ito po ay sa labas ng Metro Manila but I’m not at liberty to say for security reasons,” Roque said.
“Ang mensahe po natin, talagang ang Pilipino sa mula’t mula iaalay ang buhay para sa kalayaan ng inang bayan,” he added.
THE last time that President Duterte was physically present for the annual Independence Day rites since becoming President was during the 2018 commemoration in Kawit, Cavite.
