NINE months after the onset of the deadly coronavirus from Wuhan, China, President Rodrigo Duterte is re-convening a full Cabinet meeting on December 14.

In a press briefing, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque confirmed that the President is calling on all Cabinet Secretaries to attend the first full Cabinet meeting in nine months. The date: December 14.

Roque however would not divulge on other details even as he claimed no knowledge as to what the agenda would be – except that Duterte’s meeting with the Cabinet will take place before his weekly address to the nation.

Interestingly, Duterte used to conduct monthly Cabinet meetings but was called off after the COVID-19 pandemic’s onset in March.

“I think that’s [COVID-19] a very good reason,” Roque said at a press briefing.

The President later convened his alter egos in October to discuss the further reopening of the economy and public transport challenges amid the public health crisis.

Duterte and the Cabinet officials present during the October 12 meeting wore face masks, and plexiglass table dividers were set up to ensure social distancing.

Roque said Duterte prefers face-to-face meetings instead of online interaction
