Duterte confident he will leave a stronger AFP

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte believes that he will leave a stronger and more stable Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) once he steps down from office.

In an interview, the president said that he doubled the budget of the military not just for their salary but also for their equipment.

According to him, the AFP, for the longest time, did not have any modern airplanes or jets, except for those propeller-powered aircraft and not as elegant as the modern jets that the government procured.

As of now, the AFP already has 14 modern fighting jets and is still expecting more to be delivered to the country.

The AFP also has more modern helicopters, including firearms and bullets, he said, so it would be easier to fight terrorists because they now have firearms or enough bullets.
