Down to 8k-plus new COVID-19 cases today

The first day of the extension of the Enhanced Community Quarantine for the NCR Plus bubble saw an additional 8,355 new COVID-19 cases, according to the latest bulletin of the Department of Health (DOH) posted today.

There were also 145 recoveries and a low number of deaths pegged at 10 people.

The DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin #387 showed that with the additional new cases, this brings the tally to 803,398 people infected with COVID-19, where 17.9 percent (143,726) are active cases, 80.4 percent (646,237) are total recoveries, and 1.67 percent (13,435) have died.

The DOH, however, noted that the drop in the number of cases today is due to reduced laboratory operations during the recent holidays and does not mean a change in the trend that was observed these past few days.

Out of the 239 licensed laboratories, the DOH said only 219 laboratories conducted tests on April 1, 207 labs on April 2, and 216 labs on April 3.

The DOH continues to remind the public that they should just stay at home if there is no compelling or essential reason to go out in order to stop the spread of COVID-19. The public is also advised to contact their local Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams (BHERTs) or the One Hospital Command Center at the onset of any symptoms.
