THE Department of Transportation (DOTr) said today that it will fast-track road projects and will work together with other appropriate government agencies together with the private sector.
This was emphasized by DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautisa in reaction to the recent results of a research conducted by TomTom, a multinational traffic data provider and location technology specialist.
The results placed Metro Manila at the No. 1 spot of the world’s worst traffic congestion among 387 metro areas in the world.
“Our ongoing road transport infrastructure projects are directed at improving commuter experience while addressing worsening traffic in highly urbanized areas,” Bautista said in a statement.
He added that “the top ranking of Metro Manila in world traffic poses a challenge not just for DOTr but other agencies as well to be creative at finding lasting solutions to metro traffic.”
