DOJ files rape raps against NPA leader

THE Department of Justice (DOJ) filed two counts of rape against a New People’s Army (NPA) leader who allegedly sexually abused a former female compatriot in the movment.

The case was filed against Rey Dela Peña alias Reynaldo Santos who at that time was the squad leader of the victim identified as “Ka Shane.”

The DOJ saw probable cause to file rape charges against Dela Peña.

The incident reportedly happened last April 2016 in Nueva Vizcaya and was repeated on June 2016, this time in Nueva Ecija.

The DOJ used as basis the testimony of a witness who is also a fellow NPA member like the victim, who said she was not the only rape victim while being an active member of the NPA.

Dela Peña was arrested earlier together with the other accused, said to have also raped the victim on separate occasions.
