THE Department of Health (DOH) logged a total of more than 8,000 new Coronavirus disease cases today, which may be caused by the highly transmissible Delta variant.
Based on the latest DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin issued today, July 30, 2021, the number of new COVID-19 cases shot up to 8,562 today, for an overall 1,580,824 case count..
The number of recoveries today also took a sharp dive, which was only at 2,854 today compared to yesterday’s 4,069 count.
Overall, there are now 1,491,182 of total recoveries.
The DOH also recorded 45 deaths today, much lower than yesterday’s 176 count, for an overall 27,722 COVID-19 fatalities.
The number of active cases also rose today with 61,920, majority are mild cases at 94.0 percent.
A total of 25 duplicates were removed from the overall case count, of which 17 were recoveries.
Also, two cases earlier tagged as recoveries were validated to be active cases, while 90 cases previously identified as recoveries were reclassified as deaths upon final validation.
All laboratories were operational on July 28, 2021 while two laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS). Based on data in the last 14 days, the two non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 0.5 percent of samples tested and 0.4 percent of positive individuals.
With the rise in cases every day, the DOH continues to remind the public not to be complacent and continue to observe strict compliance to health protocols.
