DOH logs 4,516 new COVID-19 cases today

THE Department of Health (DOH) logged a total of 4,516 new COVID-19 cases today, slightly lower than yesterday’s 5,651 total, according to the latest DOH COVID-19 Case Bulletin issued today, July 20, 2021.

This brings the total number of COVID-19 infections in the country to 1,517,903 with 46,806 listed as active cases or patients who are undergoing treatment in government hospitals and temporary quarantine facilities.

The DOH also logged 5,240 new recoveries from the COVID-19 disease today, slightly lower than the 5,332 recoveries recorded yesterday.

Currently, there are now 1,444,253 individuals listed as total recoveries.

A total of 58 cases were added to the list of COVID-19 deaths today, which is less than the 72 cases recorded yesterday. This brings to 26,844 the total number of COVID-19 fatalities.

Meanwhile, positivity rate is at 10.9 percent from 34,562 people who were tested.

Majority, or 93.8 percent of the cases, are mild and asymptomatic.

A total of nine duplicates were removed from the total case count, of which six were recoveries.

Also, 30 cases previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths upon final validation.

All laboratories were operational on July 18, 2021 while 10 laboratories were not able to submit their data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System (CDRS). Based on data in the last 14 days, the 10 non-reporting laboratories contribute, on average, 2.2 percent of samples tested and 2.9 percent of positive individuals.

The DOH continues to remind the public to strictly observe the Minimum Public Health Standards to ensure the safe recovery of our country. The moment any symptoms of COVID-19 are experienced, coordinate immediately with the BHERTs (Barangay Health Emergency Response Teams) or with the One COVID Referral Center.

The agency reiterates that the safety of the country is everyone’s responsibility, and that by helping each other, the country will overcome this COVID-19 pandemic.
