In a 12-page resolution, the Department of Justice dismissed the case against Rep. Sarah Elago of Kabataan Party-list Atty. Neri Colmenares and other youth leaders due to “lack of probable cause” and “no sufficient grounds.”
Among the charges dismissed by the court are kidnapping and Republic Act No. 9851, otherwise known as the “Philippine Act on Crimes Against International Humanitarian Law, Genocide, and Oher Crimes Against Humanity.”
Last September 18, the Supreme Court also junked the writ of amparo and writ of habeas corpus against progressive youth groups such as Anakbayan and Kabataan Partylist.
Kabataan Party-list welcomes the dismissal of these ludicrous cases against our progressive youth leaders.
These trumped-up cases filed by agents of Duterte’s fascist government have once again proved to be inutile and nothing more than empty ramblings of the PNP and the AFP.
They prove that the people tasked with keeping law and order know nothing about it and serve only to disrupt it to target those who exercise their democratic rights.
The Filipino youth will never stop until the NTF ELCAC is held accountable for their deliberate dissemination of false and malicious accusations. Counter charges shall be filed against them.
