ASAHAN na umano ng mga kustomer ng Manila Water Company, Inc. ang mas mataas na singil ng tubig habang magbababa naman ang Maynilad Water Services Inc., sa ikalawang bahagi ng taong 2021.
Ito ay makaraang aprubahan ng Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) ang quarterly adjustment ng water distribution utilities.
Sa virtual press briefing, sinabi ni MWSS chief regulator Patrick Ty na inaprubahan ng MWSS Board of Trustees ang rekomendasyong ipatupad ang 2021 second quarter foreign currency differential adjustment (FCDA), na magiging epektibo sa darating na Abril 1.
Ang FCDA ay ang mekanismo ng pagbabago sa bayad dahil sa mga gastos na dala ng pagbabago sa palitan ng piso.
Ang Manila Water, na nakasasakop ng east zone ng Metro Manila, ay magpapatupad ng 0.84 percent na FCDA ng 2021 average basic charge nito na P28.52 per cubic meter o P0.24 per cubic meter.
Ibig sabihin, magtataas ng P0.27 kada buwan para sa mga kustomer ng Manila Water na kumukonsumo ng 10 cubic meters pababa, maliban sa mga itinuturing na lifeline customers na exempted dito.
Para naman sa mga kumukonsumo ng 20 cubic meters at 30 cubic meters kada buwan, asahan ang dagdag-singil na P0.60 at P1.22 sa kanilang buwanang bill.
Samantala, ang Maynilad ay magpapatupad ng -0.41 percent na FCDA sa 2021 average basic charge nito na P36.24 per cubic meter o -P0.15 per cubic meter.
“This is a downward adjustment of P0.01 per cubic meter from the previous FCDA of -P0.14 per cubic meter,” ayon kay Ty.
Ibig sabihin, ang mga residential customer ng Maynilad na kumukonsumo ng 10 cubic meters pababa ay asahan ang pagbaba ng P0.08 sa kanilang buwanang bill habang nasa P0.10 naman ang rolbak para sa gumagamit ng 20 cubic meters kada buwan at P0.20 bawas-singil sa mga may konsumong 30 cubic meters kada buwan.
“The reason why there is an increase in Manila Water and rollback for Maynilad is because there are significant portions of the loans of Manila Water are in Japanese yen and in euros. Since the Japanese yen and euros appreciated against the Philippine peso… it caused an increase their (Manila Water’s) FCDA,” paliwanag ni Ty.
“Maynilad, majority of their loans payable for this quarter are in US dollars. The peso appreciated against the US dollar which caused the rollback of P0.01 per cubic meter,” dagdag pa nito.
